What is the New Zealand connection?+
Areion horse float design was originally developed in New Zealand by lifelong horse people. Areion Australia is the Australian operation, hand-building every float in Victoria.
Which horse float models does Areion Australia build?+
Areion Australia builds four custom models: the Traveller for day trips, the Overnighter for weekends away, the Adventurer for full living comfort, and the Ultimate Gooseneck for extended travel.
How is an Areion Australia horse float constructed?+
Composite fibreglass foam-core walls and roof on a marine-grade aluminium chassis, fully insulated, fully sealed and corrosion-resistant, with aluminium flooring and a rubber overlay.
Why use composite fibreglass and marine-grade aluminium?+
The combination keeps tow weight down without compromising strength, insulates the horse bay, and resists rot and rust, which is a good fit for Australian conditions.

Can I customise the layout of my float?+
Yes. Bay sizing, tack space, windows, vents, awnings, finishes, power, water and any living configuration are all discussed and set during the build conversation.
Which Areion Australia models have a living area?+
The Overnighter has a compact overnight setup. The Adventurer has a full living area. The Ultimate Gooseneck has a bespoke living layout, with an optional slide-out room.
Can I add a kitchen, bathroom or shower?+
Kitchen options are available on the Overnighter, Adventurer and Ultimate Gooseneck. Bathroom, shower and toilet options are offered on the Adventurer and Ultimate Gooseneck.
Is the slide-out room standard on the Ultimate Gooseneck?+
The slide-out room is an optional upgrade on the Ultimate Gooseneck. It expands the living footprint when parked.
Are Areion Australia floats fully insulated?+
Yes. Insulation is built into the composite wall and roof construction, which helps keep horses more comfortable in Australian heat and cool nights.
What tow vehicle do I need?+
Suitability depends on the finished float specification, your vehicle's braked towing capacity, tow-ball or gooseneck limits, GVM, GCM and the applicable rules in your state or territory. Areion Australia confirms this with you before build.
Do I need a special licence to tow a horse float?+
Licence requirements depend on the vehicle and combination weight, and on the state or territory. Check your state's road rules for your specific setup.
What is the difference between the Traveller and the Overnighter?+
The Traveller is a day-trip float with a focus on horse and storage space. The Overnighter adds a compact overnight setup for weekends away.
What is the difference between the Adventurer and the Ultimate Gooseneck?+
The Adventurer is a tag-along float with a full living area. The Ultimate Gooseneck steps up to a gooseneck coupling with a more spacious, bespoke living layout.
Can I visit the Areion Australia workshop?+
Workshop visits to Pakenham South, Victoria, are welcome by appointment. Please contact us first so we can make sure someone is available.
Can I collect my float from the workshop?+
Yes. Collection from the Pakenham South workshop can be arranged at handover.
Does Areion Australia build for owners outside Victoria?+
Yes. Areion Australia builds for horse owners across Australia. Collection or transport arrangements are discussed during the build.
Are Areion Australia's dimensions and weights fixed?+
No. Every float is custom-built, so dimensions and weights are confirmed against your finished configuration rather than published as fixed figures.
What is included as standard?+
Standard inclusions vary by model and are listed on each model page. Typical inclusions across the range are angle-load bays with adjustable dividers, non-slip rubber flooring, sliding windows with flyscreens, roof vents, interior LED lighting, electric brakes and a heavy-duty jockey wheel.
What is the difference between a horse float and a horse trailer?+
Horse float is the term used in Australia and New Zealand for what some other markets call a horse trailer. It refers to the same type of towed vehicle for transporting horses.
